Today I’m going to write a quick blog about my sister Jane’s new iPad and the accessories we picked for it. Yes, yes, I know, the whole family is getting one now because I’m an iPad evengelist I have not quite convinced Mom and Dad yet but I will! This site is comprehensive and well organised, and they have very objective reviews. I also found they have listed the cheapest places to get things like an iPad charger – who would have thought you could get one on Amazon for less than $3! so check this site before you go and spend your hard earned $$$ at the Apple.com store…

So, for Jane’s new iPad we wanted a nice leather case, not too expensive because Jane is trying to put as much money aside for the new baby in December, but something to compliment her style. We picked the Walkabout for its simplicty – and it really suits Jane, for friends reading this you know what I mean

We also wanted a charger for Jane’s car – she’s travelling 4-5 hours a day for work currently and so this was essential – and she needed to make sure the iPad would stay charged because she will be showing her company’s interior design clients all sorts of portfolio pics and design mockups throughout the day.  Thanks to my favorite accessories site we found the cheapest car charger bar none:

And yes – we got it for about $2.30… amazing…

Lastly we finished up with an iPad essential – screen protection.

If you don;t think you need one then heed this; Uncle Willy got his iPad after I told him about this woodworking app http://itunes.apple.com/in/app/woodworking-glossary/id358065040?mt=8 but sadly he managed to scratch the screen with one of his chisels in the first week Poor Willy. So I can’t say this enough – get an invisible shield or suffer the consequences. They are only about $40 and it will keep your iPad from coming to any harm, and keep it looking like new far into the future. There is a good review here http://i.padaccessories.info/ipad-screen-protector/and they have another slightly cheaper option as  well, but I have not tried it and I don’t know if it is as scratch proof or as easy to put on.

So that was us – we didn’t want to spend any more money today, but Jane is very satisfied with her purchases

These are two nice bags, not too big, just the appropriate size for holding an iPad in its case plus a few accessories. Both bags are very nicely reviewed in the video, so you can see all features. I don’t have too many comments to make, but I’ll be happy to know what you think about those bags: which one do you like most?

This is a video review of the Temple Bags iPad Leather Case. The guy who did it doesn’t talk in the video, which is a bit odd, I think. However, he shows very well the way it stands up, the closure system, the ports, etc.
This is a bag one can fall in love with easily. The leather smells amazing, is very soft and supple, and according to the tag, is World War II vintage. The inside is soft canvas and won’t scratch the rear of the iPad. It includes a velcro pouch for a microfiber cloth, in ear headphones, and USB cord (sorry, the 10w charger won’t fit). My only “complaint” is that the leather straps that hold the case closed line up with the headphone port, so you have to shift the iPad slightly to the side for the headphones to come out (I have Beats by Dre – other headphones might have a shorter plug). Not really a problem to shift the iPad to the side, so, I highly recommend this case!!!!

This is a video review of several iPad accessories. I thought it was worth mentioning it in here because of the first item presented in the show, the iPad anti-glare screen protector. That’s a very useful add-on to your iPad, because we all know how annoying light reflecting on a glossy screen ca be. The presenter makes his point very clearly, by trying to blind us with an iPad and a light ray.

The second part of the video is about iPad cases. I think the STM bag looks very good. Wouldn’t you think so too?

The Ristretto is a vertical messenger bag featuring a netbook padded compartment that protects from all sides and is sized specifically for your iPad or Netbook or Kindle DX. The review is in German language, but one doesn’t need words to see how great this bag is. Anyway, Tom Bihn bags have an excellent reputation, they are appreciated by so many people, so you can imagine that everybody waited to see what they are going to come up with for the new iPad, just after the moment its launch was announced.

The BookArc iPad stand is a great help, thanks to its four possible positions. You can use it for work, you can display it as a photo frame, you can watch movies or browse the internet. This tabletop stand is very comfortable and easy to use and it is padded with a soft silicone, so your iPad is perfectly protected against accidental scratches. Watch the review and let me know if you like it or not.

I forgot to tell you, the stand costs $39.99. Would you say it’s too much?

This is a brief overview of the Targus messenger bag, an excellent multipurpose iPad bag. As you can see from the video, the bag is very nicely finished, comfortable to wear and roomy enough for hosting much more than your iPad. Don’t get me wrong, this is not a bulky bag. It’s just very well proportioned.
